AEHRA SUV

US-born Hazim Nada founded Aehra, a premium electric vehicle brand that emphasizes "eco-sustainability" and innovative design. It's called Aehra (pronounced eye-air-ra) because it combines the Latin word for "era" and the modern Italian word for "aerodynamics."

The Electric SUV, currently unnamed, boasts an array of striking features, with its "elytra wing" doors taking center stage. These doors, inspired by the forewing shells of flying beetles, elevate the vehicle's aesthetic to something out of science fiction, each one cutting into the roof to facilitate access.

Filippo Perini, the Italian designer renowned for his work on Lamborghini models, leads the design effort. He emphasizes that the design language of the Aehra is driven by aerodynamics, resulting in an impressive drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.21, rivaling that of the Mercedes-Benz EQS.

Perini underscores the functional aspect of the design, ensuring that every element serves a purpose rather than mere decoration. The Aehra blurs the line between SUV and supercar, featuring a metal body crafted from recycled carbon fiber composite. This unique construction, along with its flowing roofline and cab-forward silhouette, sets it apart from traditional SUVs.

The SUV's specifications are not finalized, but Hazim Nada hints at "two or three electric motors" with a total output ranging from 750 to 815 horsepower. Carbon fiber construction contributes to a weight reduction of 20 percent, aiming to keep the SUV under 4,400 pounds. Despite its large dimensions, the Aehra is projected to have a range of 500 miles, exceeding current EV standards.

Interior details are yet to be revealed, but the emphasis on clever packaging ensures ample space and comfort. A 10-foot wheelbase accommodates four NBA-size players, with rear seats designed to recline like those on an airplane.

The driving experience promises a "grand tourism" adventure, with adaptive air suspension enhancing comfort. The absence of artificial sound emphasizes the authentic noise of electric motors and hardware.

Looking ahead, Aehra plans to unveil a sedan in February next year, sharing 70 percent of its parts with the SUV. Initial launches are expected in North America, Europe, China, and the Gulf States, with a price estimate ranging from $160,000 to $180,000.

The Aehra SUV prioritizes aerodynamics, incorporating features like active front splitter and rear diffuser, along with replacing exterior mirrors with cameras. Interior features include a retractable XXL-Display touch screen, digitization features, ADAS technology for autonomous driving, and multiple screens for various functions.

With its ultra-light carbon fiber monocoque chassis and cutting-edge technologies, the Aehra SUV represents a bold step towards sustainable, high-performance vehicles.
